Finally, the soft sound of rain gently falling could be heard again in our backyard. It has been so long since we've had a rainshower, and our winter-damaged plants and thirsty yards were desperate for a good dose of it. It is a miracle-tonic for grass, as I could see our neighbor's parched, unwatered grass turn a soft shade of green by the end of the shower.

What a lovely sound! I love a rain shower...and I know your area really needs it!!
I just noticed your Jacobean plant (or Justicia) on your photos. I have several of them but mine aren't coming back yet. Have yours started coming back?
How wonderful. I hope to hear that sound tonight. Your garden looked like it was dancing in the rain.
Yes, it was a sweet sound. I think you all got more than we did.
I got soaked trying to work in the garden. Although we didn't get very much it was kind of misty all day. I kept thinking we would take whatever we could get. It is amazing how quickly the earth responds to that watery goodness. Glad you got some, too.
(The city just imposed no irrigation ban- NONE- thank goodness I'm in the county- we can still irrigate once a week-- the water shortage is really bad)

We had clouds, but no rain. *Sigh*
Jan...Yes, the sound of rain is very peaceful.
Dirt Princess...I didn't know I had a Jacobean plant. What other name does it go by?
Lisa...If my yard wasn't dancing, then I surely was. Hope you get some too.
Meems...Sorry to hear you didn't get more. I heard about the new ban. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't keep my lawn and plants going. I would be sick!
Dani...Sorry to hear you didn't get rain. Perhaps Sunday will be your turn.
Susan...it is on the left side of your blog under FLOWERS FOR THE SOUL. Pink petals...similar to a fire cracker. I know it as a Jacobean plant or Justicia. I have also seen it called a Pine Burr Geranium. Here is a link to Floridata on it

ah yes, we've been having some of that lovely rain here in Pensacola. So good to hear. The best stress relief in the world (unless you're driving in it, that is...)
Dirt Princess...Aha, we call it a Flamingo Flower. I guess because it's pink. I'll check out the link you provided.
Becca...Glad to hear you're getting rain in your area, too. All of Florida needs it.
